HOME

Welcome to my website

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about my services and my areas of expertise.

I am a qualified translator, accredited by the Higher Regional Court in Hamm, Germany, providing translations from:

  • English into German and
  • French into German

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me
by email katjaraillon@t-online.de or by telephone: +49 (0) 23 02 – 37 23.

Should you require a translation from German into English or French, I would be happy to recommend two of my colleagues who are English and French native speakers specialising in translations into their mother tongues.

Best regards
Katja Raillon

Services

The secret to a good translation is never knowing that the text was originally written in a different language. The best way to achieve this is to ensure that texts are translated into the native language of the translator, and that the translator has in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. That is why I only translate texts into German.

My qualification as a specialist translator, along with more than 25 years working as a translator for a wide range of clients, including law courts and other government departments, companies, lawyers, doctors, has allowed me to gain expertise in the below mentioned areas in particular.

Translations

Professional translations in:

  • Law:
All types of legal texts, including decrees, experts’ reports, agreements and contracts, terms and conditions, standard form contracts, commercial and Inco terms, covering all fields of law, including civil and criminal law, corporate and commercial law etc.
  • Medicine:
General medical texts, medical reports, patient brochures, medical certificates etc.
  • Other areas of expertise:
Tourism, politics and education, human resources, media releases, newsletters, training documents, corporate communications etc.
  • Documents:
Birth and marriage certificates, certificates and school reports, divorce decrees, wills, resumés, references etc., including translator’s certification

Certification

Government departments and authorities often require documents to be certified.  Certification requires that a specially accredited translator provides confirmation in a specified format that the document they have prepared is a true and correct translation.  A translator in Germany is awarded this power of accreditation in a legal procedure carried out by the translator’s court of jurisdiction.  I was awarded this accreditation for English and for French and it is recognised both within Germany and abroad.

It goes without saying that I guarantee complete confidentiality.

Pricing

Translations are usually calculated on a price per line basis (into the target language) or a price per word basis (from the original language). The following factors should be considered:

  • Length of text (a minimum rate may apply)
  • Type of text (specialist text, document etc.)
  • Difficulty of the text
  • Layout (continuous text, table etc.)
  • Urgency

As every text is assessed on an individual basis, I will be happy to prepare a non-binding quote for you free of charge stating the timeframe in which the translation can be delivered once the order has been accepted.
